About us
our program
The Falcon Playhouse is the theatre program at Scripps Ranch High School in San Diego, California. Students can take classes focused on acting or technical theatre during the school day where they learn the skills required to work in a professional environment, and participate in after school productions where they gain experience and apply what they've learned.
The program is lead by a student board, designed to mirror that of a professional theatre company. Under the guidance of theatre teacher and artistic director Patrick Garcia, they select shows, organize events, and keep the playhouse running. The Playhouse is focused on creating excellent theatre rather than just "high school theatre" and providing students with a safe space to express themselves and grow.
"Theatre is a reflection of humanity."
Thespian troupe 8473
The Falcon Playhouse was founded in 2013 by a small group of passionate students who fought to have a theatre program at SRHS. Since then, it has grown tremendously in number and in the scale of productions. In 2017, the Falcon Playhouse became an official member of the International Thespian Society as Thespian Troupe 8473. The International Thespian Society is an honor society for high school theatre students. Students now have the opportunity to become official thespians, an honor given to those who have demonstrated exceptional dedication to and passion for theatre. Click here for more information.
